Grammar teachers are required to be on campus Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and asked to be available during flexible "office hours" on Wednesdays and Fridays when they set aside time to check their phone messages and email and respond to questions parents may have as they are teaching students at home. Teachers are also asked to participate in monthly family service projects (generally on Fridays) where we go out into the community and serve together as a school. You plan the lessons for all 5 days of the week, but you teach the lessons 3 of those days and equip and encourage the parent as he/she teaches the lessons 2 days at home. Teaching at a UM school is a unique experience, as you are truly partnering with parents to educate their children together.
Logic teachers (6th-8th grades) are asked to be on campus Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, all day or for the duration of the specific subjects you have been hired to teach, and have "office hours" on Wednesdays and Fridays to communicate with parents as needed. You plan the lessons for all 5 days of the week, but you teach the lessons 3 of those days and equip and encourage the parent as he/she supervises their student completing their work at home 2 days a week.
All TOFA teachers are considered part-time employees.
